The Evolution of The Clothes Line
The clothes line online has sprung as a result of the boutique retail store which opened in 2008 in the picture perfect historic town of Beechworth in North East Victoria. Originally the boutique was a ‘clothing only’ store specialising in designer sample stock, pre loved and vintage pieces where customers could bring in their still wearable but no longer loved wardrobe pieces and swap them for new little numbers.
While you can still do away with ‘shopping’ and replace it with ‘swapping’, the clothes line is now so much more than just a clothes store.
The Clothes Line sprung from a sense of despair at the movement towards ‘throw away’ consumerism with the knowledge that treasures of quality and integrity existed but were much harder to find and just needed to be discovered or in the case of our vintage lines “re discovered’.
So with the doors to the Beechworth store open, Jade Miles, who founded the business, was taken on the evolutionary journey of sifting through the piles of pre loved and sample stock wondering what to do with items which just weren’t quite right for todays shopper. Laden with fabrics and ideas, Jade set about sourcing artisans both locally and Nationally with an eye for turning once loved beauties into a new piece of magic ready to be loved again.. A new concept was born. No longer just selling clothes, the store had found a multitude of talents in the woodwork who were able to turn one mans trash into another mans treasure and the range now also includes, lamp shades, bunting, cushion covers, vintage advertisements, handmade jewellery, umbrellas, bags, children’s clothes and more.

At the clothes line we love and welcome special requests so please let us know is you have seen something you simply love but need a different size or colour - we cant promise, but we are certainly willing to try.
We’ve done all we can to make your shopping experience as easy breezy as can be with a safe and secure shopping cart which means you can complete your shopping all in one go and.......because we hate waiting too, we guarantee delivery of your treasures in less than two weeks (3-5 working days is the usual). Not just a computer screen
....we have our boutique store too! The Beechworth store is open 10am-5pm every day in Summer except Sundays when we close at 4pm.
